A UK case study of refugees and people seeking asylum’s opinions, expectations and ideas about sharing their stories with the British Red Cross.
In January 2022 The British Red Cross commissioned me to create a piece of research to seek the opinions of those involved in the process of creating content about issues affecting refugees and people seeking asylum for their communications (content gatherers, and potential and actual image contributors) to hear about their experiences and opinions on story gathering for the British Red Cross. It is intended that this be the first of a number of case studies that will highlight pertinent issues around the representation of people who use our services. When taken together, these case studies will offer a rich insight into the views and reflections of British Red Cross service users about their representation across the spectrum of areas that they work in across the UK. The report was completed in January 2023 and has since been disseminated to internal staff at BRC and invested stakeholders working in image and story gathering in the humanitarian sector.
